With a clear purpose, relevant value and defined goals all you need to push forward is the power of collaboration in mind. We all need that one person who supports our efforts and when we do things together we get ahead of it.  Teamwork and collaboration isn’t the same thing, they are in no way related, though some might not be able to differentiate it, however, we would concentrate on the topic at hand – collaboration.

“A clear purpose will unite you as you move forward, values will guide your behavior, and goals will focus your energy.”

― Kenneth H. Blanchard

Collaboration is simply the process where two or more people or organizations agree to work together to complete a task with the main aim of achieving a goal. The Power of collaboration can also be said to be cooperation, it is, however, important to note that most collaboration requires a form of understanding, which can provide guidance of the projects.

Vishwas Chavan of  Universal Principles for Living has this to say about collaboration and I tend to agree:

“I have always believed in the power of collaboration. Early on in my professional career, I realized that you can’t develop all the competencies you need fast enough on your own. Furthermore, if you don’t collaborate, your ideas will be limited to your own abilities. As a result, you will not be able to serve your clientele and thus can’t achieve the anticipated impact”.

Collaboration is a joint effort of multiple individuals or work groups to accomplish a task or project. Within an organization, collaboration typically involves the ability of two or more people to view and contribute to documents or other content over a network.

There are several tools that make it easy for the strength of the Power of collaboration to be achieved and some will be discussed in their category.

For File and Documentation:

G Suite: For an organization with the aim of documentation, we have found out that Google Docs is one of the easiest ways to collaborate, share, edit, and eventually publish documents of all kinds.

Google Docs allows us to create blog posts, spreadsheets, and presentations.  It’s all for free, which stands as a blessing for startups and small businesses located in various parts of the world.

When you need safe storage for all of your files, this is the app to use. You have 15 GB of free storage for photos, documents, and any other digital file you need to store for later use. Files are safe, but easily accessible by you and your team, and you can access them from any device even on the go.  You can organize items quickly and easily, and then share them and collaborate with your team.

Other of such amazing products include One Note and Dropbox.

For Project Management

Trello is a web-based tool that allows you to organize your projects using cards that are organized on a board. To conceptualize this, imagine writing tasks on Post It Notes and sticking them in columns on a wall. You can write on them, take them off of the wall, and move them around.

Each column represents a different part of the project. As you and your team make progress on a card, you move it across the board. This lets you see the status of everything you’re working on with just a quick glimpse at the board.

The beauty of this tool is it has a mobile app which makes it easy for collaboration on the o and you can comment on any board to make a suggestion or criticize it.

Still on the lookout for other tools that can aid project management? We have Slack and Base-camp.

Invision is an enterprise-grade prototyping tool that enables users to upload designs, create actions such as button clicks, and gather feedback seamlessly from colleagues and customers right from within the app.

With Invision, you can manage your projects from a single dashboard.  The dashboard will show you a breakdown of project status as well as comments collected.  You can also integrate with various platforms to create a seamless design environment.

There are other tools that can stand in for you if you don’t want to work with invision.  We have the Concept inbox and Mural

GitHub is the most popular software repository on the web.  And it is one of the top 100 most popular websites in the world and has hosted over 8 million software projects.

GitHub wraps a version control system called a Git where developers can host their projects for free as well as exchange and talk “code” with other developers.
